Insurance companies require psychological testing prior to approval for Bariatric surgeries. Psychological testing takes an average 3-4 hours to complete and evaluates several factors; your level of understanding of the procedure, your expectations of your functioning post-procedure, emotional state, psychological distress, and coping style. Results of testing range from: approval, approval with pre-operative psychological treatment (to target triggers and increase coping skills to help with success of surgery), and disapproval.
